DENVER WOMAN'S PRESS CLUB
1325 LOGAN STREET
Architectural style: ENGLISH COTTAGE

Built: 1910
Architects: Varian and Varian

Journalist and suffragist Minnie J. Reynolds (1865-1936) formed the Denver Woman's Press Club (DWPC) in 1989 with nineteen other notable female journalists. The club reflected the growing influence of early twentieth-century newspaperwomen despite male domination of the profession. The DWPC's founders hope "to advance and encourage women in literary work, to cultivate acquaintance and friendship among women of literary tastes, to secure the benefits arising from organized effort," and most importantly, "to drive dull care away."

Artist George Burr's brick cottage was converted to the Denver Woman's Press Club house in 1924. Founded in 1898, the club is one of Denver's oldest surviving and thriving women's associations.
