the architecture and history of this beautiful, eclectic neighborhood.
The
widow of Colorado Fuel & Iron's Alfred Curtis Cass, Mary Ashton Cass, built
this red brick home. It was said to be the finest Colonial Revival in the West
when it was built. The second owner was flamboyant attorney Henry Blackmer, who
built the $5,000 wrought-iron fence and lavishly redecorated the interior. An
alleged bootlegger, multimillionaire Blackmer was also suspected of other illegal
business dealings.
