Did you know?

In the 1880s, Alamo Placita Park began its first of many incarnations as a water park called The Chutes. Its star attractions were Professor Barnes’ herd of diving elk, who dove from platforms into water tanks, and local celebrity Sadie Boynton, who would daredevil down the chutes on a bicycle!

The Denver Story Trek
Historic Denver’s newest program – the Denver Story Trek – launched successfully on July 19th, 2008 and is ongoing. The story of Denver has never been told in such entertaining and innovative fashion! The Trek, funded with grants from Preserve America, the Colorado State Historical Fund and the Colorado Tourism Office, leads visitors through a rich variety of Denver neighborhoods. Traveling along the Cherry Creek Bike Path, you’ll encounter Civic Center Park and five landmark “hubs” including Four Mile Historic Park, Byers-Evans House Museum, Molly Brown House Museum, Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art and the Black American West Museum.

We encourage you to explore the city and discover its hidden history. The bike tour, enhanced with recorded information about each site, is an unforgettable experience for the entire family. You’ll even have the opportunity to record a story of your own.

Visit the Denver Story Trek website for all the details at www.denverstorytrek.org.
