National
and State Register
Benefits:
- Qualifies
a property to compete for grants from Colorado's State Historical
Fund
- Improves
the ability to raise funds to support and repair the structure
- Creates
a body of information available for community promotion purposes
by such local and state agencies as chambers of commerce and tourism
departments
- Increases
pride of ownership and expands community interest and appreciation
of its cultural resources
- Develops
local interest and support of neighborhood and commercial revitalization
Restrictions:
Placement on the State or National Register in no way limits the
property owner as to what they can or cannot do with their property
Local Landmarking
Benefits:
- All of the
benefits that apply to State and National Register properties
also apply to properties that are locally landmarked, although
when fundraising some foundations may require listing on the State
or National Register as opposed to just being locally landmarked
Restrictions:
- Demolition
is prevented for 1 year after being landmarked
