St Joseph's

The archdiocese in Denver is one of the strongest preservation partners we have in the city. Many of their efforts can serve as case studies to other historic sacred places and buildings in the city. St. Joseph's Catholic Church sits in the Lincoln/Alma neighborhood. Built in 1889 it serves a mainly Hispanic congregation. They are currently going through a restoration program, they had the red paint that covered the building removed, the masonry restored, the deteriorated stone elements replaced, and they just replaced their metal front doors with beautiful hand carved wooden doors. But just recently, a strong wind blew in one of their stained glass windows. They were fortunate to have documented their windows prior to the accident and collected the pieces of the window to match texture. They will be reconstructing the window and it will hopefully be replaced within a year.
