Metropolitan Community Church

Metropolitan Community was built in the Gothic Revival style in 1910. When they bought the church it had been abandoned for many years. The stained glass had been removed and the previous owners had plans to turn the building into condos. Some of the windows were sold to another church that was not able to use them, so Metropolitan bought them back. Some of the windows went to residents in the neighborhood and they sold them back to the church as well. Some windows also showed up at the local Police station who sold them back. Almost all the windows were returned and reinstalled. There are only a few that could not be found.
The building hosts a food bank every Wednesday and Sunday, an HIV support group on Tuesday evenings, Tiller discussion groups, and a Wednesday candlelight service.
