1739 EAST 13TH AVENUE
Architectural style: Colonial Revival
Built: 1892
Architect: Harry T. E. Wendell

If you try to find 1739 East 13th, you won't. Like numerous buildings in Capitol Hill, this house was allowed to deteriorate to the point at which it had to be demolished. Four houses were destroyed in this block alone to make room for the high-rise condominium block. Many such houses were lost during the early 1970s. Their rapid demise helped prompt the historic preservation movement in Denver.

Photographs are all that remain of Judge Henry T. Rogers' house. Photo: Joseph Collier, Denver Public Library, Western History Department.
