Built in 1946 to serve the needs of a growing population, this movie palace features an Art Moderne entrance and 61-foot neon sign. A popular destination for children and adults throughout the 1950s and 1960s. The 1970s, however, witnessed a period of decline. After a fire in 1981 caused building damage its future was threatened. Join us to learn more about the theater’s history, the journey to save it, and its current function. We’ll enjoy cocktails and light appetizers while we hear from Chris Geddes, Aurora’s Historic Preservation Specialist.
