SUGAR BUILDING
At the corner of 16th and Wazee Street sits the Sugar Building, named for the Great Western Sugar Company, who officed in the building from 1906 to . As the company grew so did the building. In 1906 Gove and Walsh designed a 4 story building, by 1912, they had added 2 additional stories and a red brick warehouse behind the tan brick office building. Charles Boettcher was one of the first board members, after seeing silver wealth fade in 1893, he wanted to diversify his interests. By 1926 Colorado was first in the nation’s sugar beet production.
