THE FUTURE OF SPORTS CASTLE: AN EXCLUSIVE LOOK INSIDE

Quick Details

Learn about the future of one of Denver’s most iconic buildings!

Constructed in 1926, 1000 Broadway was originally used as a showroom for the Chrysler Corporation. In 1971, it was purchased by Jerry Gart and transformed into a ski and sports retail store. It also gained the affectionate moniker, Sports Castle. Sadly, the Castle has remained largely vacant since 2016 when Gart Sports merged with Sports Authority, resulting in the closure of many stores across the country.

However, that will not be the case for much longer, as plans are being developed to revitalize the building as a new retail destination and regional hub for a sports equipment retailer, Evo. Join Historic Denver and Collin Kemberlin of Kemberlin Architecture, to explore this unique structure and learn about its future, directly from the designer.

This event will include an opportunity to explore the building and a presentation from the architect working on its future transformation.
