This month’s book is Iron Women: The Ladies Who Helped Build the Railroad. While the physical task of building the railroad was achieved by men, women made significant contributions to the growth and development of the industry, not just as nurses and stewardesses aboard the passenger cars, but as inventors, telegraph operators, and even as railroad owners. Read their stories in this book by author Chris Enss.
